Using Windows 10, in order to access shared folders on a server running Windows Server 2003, the SMB client v1 must be enabled on the PC with Windows 10.

This protocol has been disabled for security reasons.  SMB version 1 (v1)  is old and insecure, and Windows 10 no longer installs it by default.

The best choice is therefore certainly to update the server to a more  updated operating system, but in a transitory phase, it is possible to enable this protocol on windows 10.

You can temporarily enable the protocol until the server update is done.

To do this you need to go to “Enable or disable windows features”. To find this program you can search for “Enable or disable windows features” in the search box on the start menu.

Expand the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support option.

Check the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client option.    (ONLY the Client !!)

Finally click on OK button and restart windows 10.

After completing these steps, you’ll once again be able to see and access the files on a shared folder on Windows server 2003 .
